Fusing industrial heritage with modern energy
The Blue Plate Restaurant Company selected Bolster to craft a unique identity and brewpub experience for their ambitious venture in the heart of the North Loop of Minneapolis. Located in a turn-of-the-century warehouse, the challenge was to establish a brand that felt native to the historic architecture while providing a contemporary atmosphere for a full-day hospitality model—serving as a destination from early morning coffee through late-night dining.
Our team drew inspiration from the utilitarian nature of early industrialization, creating a brand that celebrates the artistry and human genius of a pre-prohibition era. By centering the design on the warehouse’s raw structural elements, we developed a visual language that felt established and permanent from day one.

We prioritized:
Neighborhood Anchorage: The exterior graphics and signage were designed to act as a visual landmark in the North Loop, establishing a sense of place within a rapidly evolving district.

The Freehouse has evolved from a new entry in the North Loop to a foundational neighborhood staple. Since its opening, the brewpub has earned a reputation for excellence, garnering a number of prestigious awards for its beers while maintaining its status as a high-volume community hub. By bridging the gap between historical heritage and modern hospitality, Bolster delivered an immersive brand environment that remains relevant and vibrant to this day.

Our team excels in designing and building solutions created for real-world excellence, ensuring that every project is thoughtfully planned and impeccably realized.
